Sip Here...The Wineries of Niagara on the Lake

What better way to spend a sunny late autumn day than traipsing from winery to winery, sipping the delicious offerings? That is exactly how C and I spent our Saturday afternoon, graciously being shuttled around by her hubby K. We visited a few wineries I hadn't tried before and each one was a unique and delightful experience...take a look!

Our first stop was the deli at Ravine Vineyard. The food was delicious, local and organic and the decor was charmingly rustic.

Our first sips of the day, the wine flight at Ravine Vineyard.

Our next stop was Frogpond Farm, Ontario's only 100% certified organic winery - it even runs on 100% green energy. Almost as fun as tasting the delicious wine was checking out the animals roaming around the farmyard. I picked up a crisp vidal and a peppery Gamay Noir - a type of red I've never tried before.

A new friend at Frogpond.

Next stop, Stratus. I loved the clean lines and modern decor of their store and tasting area, and while the wine there is pricey it definitely lives up to the hype. My favourite was the Stratus White, the signature 'assemblage' white wine composed from the vineyard's Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Semillon and Viognier.

The gorgeous bar area at Stratus.

Our last stop of the day was Pondview Estate, a warm winery with a welcoming family vibe. We capped off the day with a sweet touch of ice wine served up in an edible chocolate cup. Delish!
Tomorrow - an early sprinkling of Christmas from my fave store in St. Catharines!
