The Absentee Blogger

Hello friends...what a whirlwind few weeks it's been! Hubby and I have been getting ready for our move and have both been travelling for work, so things have been a little wild...needless to say, this has meant very little time on the blogging front.

Anyway, to cap off the week, and to hopefully kick off my regular blogging again, some things that have made me happy this week:

1. My New York Times "The Collection" App

This is one of my favourite ipad apps - a daily dose of the fashion, art and design world in NYC and beyond, gorgeous photos and news tidbits. Check out NYC designer Misha Nonoo's eclectic abode.

2. Thakoon x Nars

Don't these nail polish colours by Thakoon for Nars just scream summer holidays? I love that perfect poolside blue shade.

3. A New Place to Sweat...

I recently tried Inside Out Barre Studio in Westboro and I think I may have found a new  addiction. This ballet based work out is similar to the popular Physique 57, and believe me you will feel the burn. Plus, the bright, airy studio and spa-like facilities make your workout a pleasure!

4. ...and clothes to sweat in

I LOVE Stella McCartney's line for Adidas, but alas it's not exactly budget friendly. Fortunately, if you shop on Adidas.com right now and enter the code "Mothersday" all women's clothing is 30% off, including Stella's lovely pieces. Perfect time to treat your ma or yourself!

Style Inspiration...Coachella

Ah, the Coachella music festival. Few things give me worse FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) than this yearly pilgrimage of fashionistas, music lovers, celebs, and general cool-kids to Southern California to watch a never-ending list of famous acts perform. The Blogsphere has become so obsessively focused on what the hipster starlets in attendance are wearing, I know more about what celebrities attended the festival to watch than who actually performed. I can't say I blame the style photogs out there for flocking to Coachella. The fashion on display provides fun, creative eye candy and some great summer style inspiration. How lovely do these ladies look??

My fantasy Coachella wardrobe? Funny you should ask! See my picks below:

Spring Fashion...Minty Fresh

Among the sorbet shades that took over the runways for Spring 2012 and are now popping up in stores and fashion magazines everywhere, mint has emerged as the front-running favourite. Whether paired with other baby soft shades, bright white, or a dramatic contrasting colour, it looks as fresh as a spring morning.

Spring Work Wear

I love shopping for spring / summer work clothes almost as much as fall shopping...the pretty colours, the feminine dresses, and the multitude of footwear options (pumps? wedges? sandals?). I put together a snazzy little wishlist below.

1. Multi coloured belts from Joe
2. Acne Lucille Dress, net-a-porter.com
3. Kate Spade Heart of Gold Bangle
4. Attache Dress from J. Crew in Bright Papaya
5. Out of Office Laptop case, Kate Spade
6. Cece Ballet Flat, J. Crew
7. J. Crew Ultra Eyelet shell
8. Carven pumps, net-a-porter
9. Earrings, Kate Spade

Also, I can't forget a couple of new spring nail colours...perfect for a summer pedi.

Sip Here...Mill St. Brew Pub

Have those of you in Ottawa tried the Mill St. Brew Pub yet?? Ottawans love their beer so it's no surprise that Mill St., which is housed in Ottawa's oldest surviving mill has been buzzing since opening a few weeks ago. The building is beautiful, the beer is great, and the food is decent too (pulled pork nachos?? Genius!). My beer pick - The Organic Lager.

Happy Sipping!

Eat Here... Farb's Kitchen & Wine Bar

I kind of feel like Fraser Cafe gets all the brunch glory in the New Edinburgh neighbourhood (and I can't blame anyone!! Love it there). Another favourite of mine, however, is Farb's Kitchen. Similar to Fraser Cafe in that it has a limited but ever changing menu, there is often an inventive meat dish at brunch for the carnivores in the crowd (ie, bison sloppy joe or smoked meat eggs benny), and plenty of interesting takes on the usual brunch options (like savoury french toast...yum). This past weekend Hubby and I picked up F and T for a little post-wedding hangover brunch, and it was just what the doctor ordered!

My ultra-feminine meal choice - the "pork and beans" - served with a poached egg, pork belly and a scone.
