4 Key Winter Wardrobe Elements

I'm not talking about Sorel boots, mittens and snow pants. I am talking about 4 elements to bring into your wardrobe (or pull out from last year!) to make the winter months a little less depressing and make you feel a touch more put together:

Camel has been the "new" neutral for a few seasons now, and I can see why it has maintained its popularity...paired with other wintery colours like black or grey, it looks totally classic and ladylike.

A fun touch of fur is such a great way to dress up any outfit during the winter...if you're not brave enough for a full coat or vest, try a scarf or a tailored coat with a furry collar, like the one above.

Whether you're into fair isle, plaid or Navaho, a printed coat or sweater instantly puts your outfit together. Perfect for an afternoon of retail therapy.

I hate to say it, but I definitely do NOT agree with the whole "leggings aren't pants" movement...nothing saves me from myself after a night of excessive eating like my favourite leggings and a flowy top. However, you can easily add some edge with pleather or a heavier knit, or extra skinny jeans.

If money were no object, here is how I'd wear the looks above...
Clockwise from top: faux fur trapper hat, Joe Fresh; Wool coat, Mackage; Erdem Caitlin Merino Wool Sweater, Net-a-Porter; J. Brand Super Skinny Leather Pants from Intermix.
