The Top Knot: Beauty Friend or Foe?

I remember the unusually warm October day when I visited F back in the fall. As we wondered around on Calgary's trendy 17th Avenue, they were everywhere...on hippie-types hanging out in cafes, trendy girls (and guys!) eating at restaurants, and yoga-goers: the top knot. I couldn't figure it out. Why would you put a bun directly on top of your head? And why so tightly? Where were the loose, messy buns I've come to love to much?

Apparently Calgarians were well ahead of the fashion curve - top knots were all over the Spring 2011 runways. Whether sleek and paired with bold eyeliner like at Pedro Lourenco or mussed up at Sass and Bide, the topknot is here to stay - for Spring at least!
